PLASMA FIBROBLAST

How does the treatment work?

The treatment is performed through tiny spots made with the device to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of skin fibers. Plasma Fibroblast causes sublimation which is the process of turning a solid straight into a gas so results are instant and there is no heat transferred to surrounding tissues to cause damage to normal skin. It uses plasma so there is no electric current (which can cause problems for some patients), the treatment results in tissue retraction and tightening which gives even better results. The treatment is performed without causing bleeding and more importantly without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue.

Is Plasma Fibroblast treatment safe and does it hurt?

Local anaesthetic cream is applied for 20 minutes prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort and the procedure is then virtually painless. The treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling sensation afterwards. The plasma technology has been used worldwide for several years.

Are there any side effects with the Plasma Fibroblast treatment?

Following the treatment, tiny dark brown/black spots may appear or there may be an appearance more typical of a burn. Swelling is common and can be quite significant around the eyes. The area will often be red and warm immediately after the procedure and can be quite tender for a few days. Clients may experience a tingling sensation. Tiny scab like dots develop and it is important to keep the area clean, dry and protected from intense sunlight and other sources of UV light to prevent uneven pigmentation as the treated area recovers

What can I expect after my Plasma Fibroblast treatment?

Final results depend on severity of skin laxity or size of lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical problems. Reduction in skin folds and creases appear immediately, but this will loosen and tightening of the skin will happen over the next 1-4 months. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over 3-7 days. Swelling is common around the eyes and is often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may be tender as it is healing and may scab. It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.

What is the aftercare?

Immediately after treatment, there may be a tight and warm sensation. This will usually resolve during the remainder of the day although if it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken. Swelling is common. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for a couple of days. Anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling. Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. Once the dots have fallen off the area will be more pinkish in colour and requires protection from the sun. To maximise the effects of your Plasma Fibroblast treatment we advise to keep the crustations/discoloration intact for 5-7 days and not rub them off immediately. Keep the treated area dry and clean, away from excessive moisture and protected using a broad spectrum sunscreen, once the dots have fallen off. Mineral make-up may be applied from the third day of the treatment onwards. Avoid exposing the area to extremes of heat or cold until it has healed. .  If any doubt, contact the clinic for further advice.

What about downtime?

One of the major advantages of fibroblast is that it offers a much less invasive/expensive alternative to surgery as well as the time it takes to carry out. This does not mean there is no downtime, but by comparison it is minimal. You can experience significant swelling in the area treated, particularly in the eye area this diminishes over a 2 day period. The tiny plasma flash causes ‘crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. These on average are gone between 3-7 days. They may also be covered over to reduce their visibility. These are cosmetic issues only, technically there is no real downtime if these visual effects are of no concern to you.

Maintenace

I advice my clients that if  they require a top up or second session this has to be done after 3 months.

After that you can have Plasma Fibroblast every 2 years and maintain the youthful skin with yearly derma rolling facials (at least 3 per year)
